KDB-X Code Challenge 2026 Terms and Conditions

Promoter: KX Software Ltd, 3 Canal Quay, Newry, BT35 6BP, United Kingdom 

  1. The Code Challenge prize draw is open to anyone aged 18 years or over who completes at least one of the five code challenges published on https://academy.kx.com/courses/kdb-x-code-challenge-survival/ on each day from 26 January 2026 to 30 January 2026. Staff members of KX Software Ltd and any other organisation connected with the Code Challenge prize draw (including Data Intellect) are not eligible to enter the prize draw. By entering the Code Challenge you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions. 
  2. Entry to the prize draw is effected by successfully completing at least one of the five code challenges published on https://academy.kx.com/courses/kdb-x-code-challenge-survival/ on each day from 26 January 2026 to 30 January 2026. No purchase or payment is necessary to enter the prize draw. 
  3. There will be an individual daily prize draw for each daily code challenge over the relevant time period, and a further grand prize draw for those participants who have successfully completed all five daily code challenges. 
  4. Only one entry per person per day. Multiple entries under different email addresses or other contact details or late entries will not be eligible to participate. 
  5. The prizes for each daily prize draw are: 
    • Day 1 – Smart Watch 
    • Day 2 – DJI Mini 4K Drone 
    • Day 3 – Noise Cancelling Headphones 
    • Day 4 – Lenovo Idea TabPlus tablet 
    • Day 5 – GoPro Camera 
    • Grand Prize – MacBook Air laptop 
  6. The winner of each daily prize draw may choose as an alternative a £300 Amazon gift voucher (or equivalent value in their local currency) for the daily prize, or a £1000 Amazon gift voucher (or equivalent value in their local currency) for the grand prize. 
  7. Prizes are not transferable to anyone else. The Promoter reserves the right to replace any prize with an alternative prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond the Promoter’s control makes it necessary to do so. 
  8. The challenge for each day of the Code Challenge opens at 9am GMT (when that day’s challenge will be published) and entries must be received by 9am GMT the next day to be eligible for that day’s prize draw, with winners drawn by the Promoter thereafter using a computer programme to randomly generate a winner. 
  9. Each winner will be notified by email within 14 days to the email address they specified when they registered to participate in the Code Challenge. If a winner does not claim their prize within 30 days of being notified then they will forfeit the prize and a re-draw will take place. To claim a prize the winner must follow the instructions in the email notifying them that they are a winner. Each winner will receive their prize no later than 30 days after they claim the prize. The Promoter may require the winner to provide proof that they are eligible to enter the prize draw. 
  10. The winner is responsible for paying any income tax (if any) due on any prize(s) won. 
  11. There is no cash alternative to any prize.  
  12. No responsibility will be accepted for incomplete or lost entries or entries not received. 
  13. The Promoter’s decision on whether any daily code challenge has been successfully completed will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into in relation to any submissions. 
  14. In the event of any dispute regarding the Code Challenge and these terms and conditions, the Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.  The Promoter reserves the right to refuse entry, or refuse to award a prize to anyone in breach of these terms and conditions. 
  15. Participants retain ownership of the intellectual property rights in their submissions, subject to any third-party rights. By submitting an entry to any of the five code challenges, you grant the Promoter a non-exclusive, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to use, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, publicly perform, and create derivative works of the submission for marketing, promotional, educational and other business purposes. The Promoter may attribute you in connection with such uses. You warrant that you have all rights necessary to grant this license, that each submission is your own original work, and that each submission does not infringe any third party rights. 
  16. The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, cancel, suspend, or amend any submission or any of the prize draws where it becomes reasonable or necessary to do so. 
  17. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall the Promoter be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with these terms or the Code Challenge, even if the Promoter has been advised of the possibility of such damages. The Promoter’s total aggregate liability for direct damages arising out of or in connection with these terms or the Code Challenge shall not exceed the total value of the prizes. Nothing in this clause is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot be excluded or limited by applicable law. 
  18. By entering, you agree that any personal information provided by you may be held and used by the Promoter and its agents and suppliers to administer the Code Challenge. Your personal information will be used in accordance with these terms and conditions and the KX privacy policy at https://kx.com/privacy-policy/.  
  19. The Promoter reserves the right to update or amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any updated terms will be posted on the Code Challenge website and will apply to any entries submitted after posting. Continued participation after changes means acceptance of the updated terms and conditions. 
  20. The Code Challenge is governed by English law and entrants to the prize draw submit to the jurisdiction of the English courts.
